Indian players set to benefit from National Geospatial Mission in Union Budget 2025

The programme is designed to revolutionise land record modernisation, urban planning, and infrastructure development

The government's push for domestic players is underscored by its clear preference for indigenous solutions, as indicated in the DST guidelines issued in February 2021.

Highlights:

  • National Geospatial Mission to create a robust foundation for geospatial infrastructure
  • Focuses on land record modernisation, urban planning, and infrastructure development
  • Domestic players stand to benefit

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman laid emphasis on the National Geospatial Mission, which aims to create a robust foundation for geospatial infrastructure and data in India. This ambitious initiative, supported by the PM Gati Shakti plan, is designed to revolutionise sectors such as land record modernisation, urban planning, and infrastructure development.

By leveraging geospatial data, the mission will enable more efficient and precise decision-making, thereby enhancing the planning and execution of large-scale infrastructure projects across the country.

The National Geospatial Mission is expected to provide a substantial boost to Indian companies such as C.E. Info Systems, Genesys International, and Ceinsys Tech, which are already pioneers in the geospatial technology space.

These companies, through their specialised products and services, stand to benefit immensely from the increased demand for geospatial data and technology. The government's push for domestic players is underscored by its clear preference for indigenous solutions, as indicated in the DST guidelines issued in February 2021.

These companies have a competitive edge over foreign entities, particularly due to their ability to provide geospatial solutions in multiple regional languages, which is a critical advantage in a linguistically diverse country like India.

Foreign companies often face challenges in offering localised solutions, which gives Indian players a strong foothold in the market. This focus on regional language capabilities aligns with the government's broader goals of promoting “Atmanirbhar Bharat” and ensuring that geospatial infrastructure remains under the control of domestic entities.

With such targeted support, India's geospatial sector is poised for accelerated growth, further cementing the role of homegrown companies in driving innovation and technological advancement.
