India’s first Green Hydrogen Valley project will be set up in Pune, Maharcashtra, by renewable energy player Gensol Engineering and hydrogen infrastructure developer Matrix Gas.
Gensol informed stock exchanges on September 11 that the project will set up green hydrogen plant on Build Own and Operate (BOO) basis, supplying to specialty chemical sector for 20 years.
"We are going to supply Green Hydrogen to the specialty chemical Sector in Pune, Maharashtra on round the clock (RTC) basis to develop the Green Hydrogen economy in India," Anmol Jaggi, Managing Director, Gensol Engineering said.
"We have been selected through competitive tender as the best bidder (both Technically and Commercially) to setup a Green Hydrogen Generation plant on BOO basis through Electrolysis route," Chirag Kotecha, Whole-time Director at Matrix Gas and Renewables said.
Both Gensol and Matrix have common promoters, and they will collaborate in the Green Hydrogen and derivates space, including Green Steel and Green Ammonia domain, complementing each other's skill, the statement said.
Recently, Gensol Engineering had bagged India's first bio-hydrogen project, and secured a solar power project in Gujarat. The company also entered the US market last month.
Gensol has been evolving in the playing field of renewables, and is amongst the largest project developers for standalone battery energy storage system. During the June quarter, Gensol secured its first project under the Kusum Yojana for 116 MW. The company's solar order book including BESS projects stands at Rs 4,700 crores as of July 31, 2024.
