First Tick: Here are the top global cues for today’s trade

The Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) extended their buying on fourth day on March 25 as they bought equities worth Rs 5371 crore, while Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) sold equities of Rs 2768 crore, on the same day.

Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 are likely to open higher on March 26 tracking cues from GIFT Nifty trading around 23,760, a short while ago this morning.

The market failed to hold onto the opening gains but extended the winning streak for seventh straight session on March 25 as Nifty managed to close above 23,650.

At close, the Sensex was up 32.81 points or 0.04 percent at 78,017.19, and the Nifty was up 10.30 points or 0.04 percent at 23,668.65.

Here is how financial markets across the globe fared overnight:

GIFT Nifty (Gains)

The GIFT Nifty is trading with higher around 23,760, indicating a positive start for the day.

Asian Equities (Up)

Asian stocks posted modest gains in early trading Wednesday as investors search for a clear direction amid weaker US consumer confidence and a late rally in US equities.

US Equities (Gain)

Wall Street stocks ended higher on Tuesday, with Apple rising and Nvidia dipping as investors assessed consumer sentiment data and bet on a more flexible trade policy stance from the Trump administration next week.

The S&P 500 climbed 0.16% to end the session at 5,776.65 points. The Nasdaq gained 0.46% to 18,271.86 points, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.01% to 42,587.50 points.

US Bond Yield (Up)

The yield on 10-year Treasuries added 36 basis points ta 4.32 percent, while 2-year Treasuries  Yield was down 17 basis points at 4 percent.

Dollar Index (Flat)

The dollar index was little change against the major currencies.

Asian currencies (Down)

Asian currencies were trading mostly lower in the early Wednesday trade with Indonesian Rupiah leading the losers,  followed by South Korean Won, Thai Baht. However, Taiwan Dollar, China Renminbi and Malaysian Ringgit were trading with marginal gains.

Crude (Gains)

Oil prices climbed on Wednesday in early Asia trade on concerns of tighter supplies after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened tariffs against countries importing oil and gas from Venezuela and after U.S. crude inventories fell more than expected.

Gold (Flat)

Gold steadied near a record high after US consumer confidence fell sharply, signaling trouble for the

world’s No. 1 economy.
