Foreign Institutional Investors continued offloading Indian equities on May 6 as they sold shares worth Rs 2168.75 crore in a volatile trading session. Domestic Institutional investors picked up shares worth Rs 781.39 crore.
FIIs bought Indian equities worth Rs 12,598.23 crore and sold equities worth Rs 14,766.98 crore, showed provisional data from exchanges. DIIs acquired equities worth Rs 13,791.15 crore and sold equities worth Rs 13,009.76 crore during the session.

On May 6, Indian equity markets ended flat, losing their gains in the afternoon session. The Sensex was up 17.39 points or 0.02 percent to close at 73,895.54, and the Nifty was down 33.15 points or 0.15 percent to end at 22,442.70. About 1,294 shares advanced, while 2,627 shares declined, and 172 shares were unchanged. Among the sectoral indices, Nifty Realty ended up as the highest performer with 2.76 percent gain. Nifty PSU Bank and Energy were the top losers with 3.66 percent and 1.7 percent fall.
FIIs have been on a selling spree in the month, selling shares worth Rs 5,525.2 crore so far in three consecutive sessions. DIIs bought shares worth Rs 2,824.35 crore during the month.
In 2024 so far, FIIs have offloaded shares worth Rs 87,674.16 crore while DIIs acquired shares worth Rs 1,55,445.16 crore. Nifty has gained 3.29 percent in the year so far while Sensex has jumped 2.25 percent.
