In a major push towards improving ease of doing business in India’s capital markets, SEBI has launched the ‘India Market Access’ website (www.indiamarketaccess.in), designed as a single-window digital platform for Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs). The move aims to simplify regulatory processes, reduce complexity, and provide a consolidated source of information, addressing long-standing challenges faced by global investors. Moneycontrol had reported this earlier.

The platform was developed in collaboration with India’s Market Infrastructure Institutions (MIIs), including the National Stock Exchange, Bombay Stock Exchange, Indian Clearing Corporation Ltd., NSE Clearing Ltd., Central Depository Services (India) Ltd., and National Securities Depository Ltd., under SEBI’s guidance.

The regulator noted that foreign investors have often found it difficult to navigate India’s regulatory environment due to scattered information across multiple agencies. The ‘India Market Access’ website now serves as a comprehensive 360° digital gateway that provides user-friendly resources, including step-by-step guidance on FPI registration via the Common Application Form (CAF), advisory on required documentation, applicable SEBI and RBI regulations, taxation and repatriation guidelines, and roles of key market participants.

By offering this unified platform, SEBI aims to enhance transparency, improve operational efficiency, and attract greater foreign investment into Indian capital markets. This initiative is seen as a significant step toward strengthening India’s position as a preferred investment destination by reducing entry barriers and facilitating smoother compliance for FPIs.
