D-Street Buzz: Nifty Metal underperforms dragged by Hindalco; Tech Mahindra down 3%, ITI spikes

The breadth of the market favoured the declines with 643 stocks advancing and 1018 declining while 403 remained unchanged. On the BSE, 954 stocks advanced, 1329 declined and 133 remained unchanged.

The Indian stock market continued to trade on a weak note in this afternoon session with the Nifty50 down 46 points, trading at 10,717 while the Sensex shed 120 points at 35,654.

Nifty IT remained weak dragged by HCL Tech, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, KPIT Tech and Wipro.

The top metal losers were JSW Steel, Hindalco Industries, Jindal Steel & Power, NALCO, SAIL and Tata Steel.

Pharma stocks are also trading in the red dragged by Dr Reddy's Labs, Glenmark Pharma, Sun Pharma and Aurobindo Pharma.

From the banking space, YES Bank continued to slide, down over 5 percent followed by ICICI Bank and IDFC Bank while IndusInd Bank and PNB were trading in the green.

Selective auto stocks were trading in the green led by Eicher Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Motherson Sumi and Tata Motors.

From the BSE midcap space, the top gainers included PAGE Industries, Godrej Properties and Cholamandalam Investment while the top losers were IIFL Holdings and Jindal Steel & Power.

From the BSE smallcap space, the top gainers were ITI, Newgen Software and Peninsula Land while the losers included Capital Trust and Indiabulls Integrated Services among others.

The top gainers from NSE include GAIL India, IndusInd Bank, Adani Ports, Eicher Motors and M&M.

The top losers included YES Bank, Tech Mahindra, UPL, Hindalco Industries and Tata Steel.

The most active stocks were YES Bank, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Jet Airways, Reliance Industries and ICICI Bank.

Aarti Industries, Adani Gas, Birla Cable, Newgen Software and NRB Bearing were some of the few stocks which hit new 52-week high on the NSE.

42 stocks have hit new 52-week low including names like ABG Shipyard, Sumeet Industries, Deepak Fertilizers and Empee Distilleries among others.
