Infosys has told its technology team to comply with its mandate to work from office at least 10 days a month as the IT major aims to bring more people back into the campus. The senior team leaders of the Bengaluru-headquartered company informed the team to limit the number of work from home days they apply for, the Economic Times reported citing an email.
"To support this, starting March 10, 2025, system interventions will be implemented to limit the number of work-from-home days that can be applied each month. These measures are designed to ensure compliance with the new hybrid work requirements while maintaining flexibility for employees," ET cited the email as saying.
“As you know, our hybrid work model expects employees to work from the office for at least 10 days a month, or as per business requirements, whichever is higher,” the email further said.
The latest mandate reportedly applies to employees at job level 5 (JL5) and below, including team leaders, software engineers, senior engineers, system engineers and consultants, and more. Notably, the upper level in the hierarchy, JL6, includes managers, senior managers, delivery managers and senior delivery managers, but exclude vice presidents.
Notably, employees at Infosys use a mobile app to record their attendance. It will now no longer approve work from home requests by default and will require staff to punch in at least 10 days a month, ET quoted an unnamed senior employee as saying.
In case an employee falls short by a day or two in fulfill the work-from-office target, those days are deducted from the person’s leave balance, the report added.
Moneycontrol couldn’t independently verify the report.
Earlier in 2024, Infosys-rival TCS linked quarterly variable pay out to employees with their attendance in office. Those with less than 60 percent attendance won’t be eligible for the quarterly bonus.
Wirpo on the other hand mandated work-from office three days a week.
