Dish TV Q3 net profit at Rs 68.5cr, net subscriber addition weak

Dish TV has posted below estimate December quarter earnings. The direct-to-home company's net profit was at Rs 68.5 crore in Q3FY16 versus loss of Rs 2.6 crore in year-ago period. Total income, during the period, rose 12 percent to Rs 771.5 crore from Rs 690 crore in corresponding quarter last fiscal.

In Q3, EBITDA was up 39 percent to Rs 265.5 crore against Rs 190.64 crore while margins stood at 34.4 percent versus 27.6 percent (YoY).

According to a CNBC-TV18 poll, Dish TV was expected to post net profit at Rs 76.6 crore in October-December compared and total income may seen up 10.5 percent to Rs 789 crore against Rs 714 crore year-on-year.    

Its net subscriber additions was a big disappointment, at 0.32 million in Q3 from 0.34 million from last quarter. Net subscriber addition was seen at 0.45 million. Average revenue per user (ARPU) in Q3 was at Rs 172 from Rs 171 on a sequential basis. During the period, subscription revenue was up 4 percent at Rs 711.1 crore against Rs 682 crore (QoQ).

"Free cash flow for the quarter stood at Rs 129.6 crore. With a focus on balance sheet strength, Dish TV further pruned its debt by Rs 300 crore. The net debt is now around Rs 561 crore and likely to reduce substantially going forward," the company said in a statement.
