The default crisis of Greece will have marginal impact on software exports, an export promotion council official said on Thursday. "Though, export to Eurozone market is 29 percent of total export, but excluding UK the exports will be hardly 11 percent. So, the Greece crisis will have nil or marginal impact," Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) Chairman Saumen Chakraborty said.
"However, we want that the crisis should get resolved soon," he said. ESC Committee Member S Radhakrishnan said India's software export will be USD 109 billion for 2015-16 as against USD 97 billion in the last fiscal. Chakraborty said the Digital India drive, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday, and the smart city projects will have profound impact on the Information and Communications Technology sector inluding in exports of heardware and solutions. "Once these projects roll out in India, we will be geared to export the solutions to emerging markets of the world," he said. Speaking about growth of exports of software from West Bengal which accounts for two percent of national exports, Chakraborty said, "We would require to build the eco-system toward developing the intellectual property through IT entrepreneurship.
