Media consulting, marketing and advertising sales firm Aidem Ventures has been appointed as the media representative for Al Jazeera channels in the country.

Aidem Ventures has been appointed as the media representative for Al Jazeera English (AJE) and other Al Jazeera flagship channels, namely Al Jazeera Arabic, Al Jazeera Documentary and Al Jazeera Mobasher in India, Aidem said in a statement.

Al Jazeera English was granted a licence by the Indian government in December last year to broadcast in the country.

Today's move will allow cable and satellite companies in India to add the channel to their line-up.

Al Jazeera English currently has a bureau and a distribution office in New Delhi.

Launched in November, 2006, Al Jazeera English has 65 bureaus strategically placed around the world and is available in more than 100 countries, with viewers in more than 220 million households worldwide.

"As India continues to integrate strongly with the world economy, more and more Indian companies and brands will be looking to expand their footprint globally and will be seeking robust global media platforms to build their brands," Aidem Ventures Director Vikas Khanchandani said.
