The battle for power within The Hindu just got more heated. N Ravi, the editor of The Hindu and the brother of N Ram has filed a petition in the company law board, reports CNBC-TV18 quoting sources.

Sources say the petition challenges the decision of the board of Kasturi and Sons, which runs The Hindu, removing N Ravi and Malini Parthasarathy from the board. In the April 18 board meeting it was decided that six people including N Ram, N Ravi and Malini Parthasarathy will step down.

It was also decided that Siddharth Varadarajan will replace N Ravi as the editor.

The petition also says that the board decision goes against the CIB's December 22 order and is an act of oppression.
