Industry leaders, including Tata Group chief Ratan Tata, TVS Motor CMD Venu Srinivasan, and other members of the reconstituted National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC) will tomorrow deliberate on steps that government can take in the Budget to boost growth.
"This is the first meeting of NMCC after its reconstitution," an official said, adding Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma will also be attending
tomorrow's deliberations.The members of the Council are also expected to discuss the progress in implementation of the Mational Manufacturing Policy and deliberate on the steps that can be taken by the government in the Budget to boost manufacturing sector, the official said.Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will present the Budget proposals for 2012-13 on March 16 and unveil steps to boost economic growth which is estimated to slid to three-year low of 6.9% in the current fiscal from 8.4% a year ago.Chaired by industry veteran V Krishnamurthy, NMCC is an inter-disciplinary body which serves as a forum for promoting coherent policies for the manufacturing sector.The meeting will also be attended by CII President B Muthuraman, Finance Secretary R S Gujral, BHEL Chairman B P Rao and Chief Economic Advisor Kaushik Basu. DIPP Secretary P K Chaudhery will also be present at the
