Danone Managing Director calls on Punjab CM

French dairy major Danone's Managing Director Laurent Marcel called on Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here last evening.

Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of Chief Minister's Office said appreciating the investor friendly atmosphere in Punjab, Marcel yesterday said that currently Danone was operating globally with a turnover of 19 billion euros in baby nutrition, medical nutrition, dairy products and beverages business.

Marcel added that the company was currently conducting consumer research programmes in India before launching its products here, the spokesperson said.

French company had acquired the nutrition business of Wockhardt, including a manufacturing unit at Lalru in Punjab which led its entry into domestic baby and medical nutrition market.

After acquiring Wockhardt's nutritional brands, Danone formally entered India's baby food and medical nutrition market with Dexolac, Farex, Nusobee and Protinex bran
