Feminine and Infant Hygiene Association of India (FIHA), has sought waiver of the 10 per cent excise duty on sanitary napkins in the Budget 2011-12, reports The Economic Times. The duty was increased to 10 per cent from zero per cent in Budget 2010-11. The zero per cent duty helped in preventing menstrual health issues that impact health, hygiene, productivity and school attendance of girls and women in India, FIHA said in a statement, the report adds.
