Hipolin, a promising brand of yesteryears, has suddenly caught the fancy of FMCG biggies, reports The Times of India.
Growing competition, rising input costs and squeezing margins are believed to have put this Ellisbridge-headquartered firm, which was once one of the biggest brands in Ahmedabad, on the block. The promoters have been approached by a number of big companies in the business, the report says.
Downtown rival of Karsanbhai Patel's Nirma, Hipolin couldn't catapult itself into the big league despite an impressive advertisement campaign and a strong brand recall. The BSE-listed Hipolin Limited has a market-cap of barely over Rs 9 crore, the report adds.
