Will Reliance Industries today finally get its way with the oil ministry? The ministry is working out ways for RIL and BP to carry out pre-development activities at the KGD6, reports CNBC-TV18 quoting sources.

This is something that RIL has been seeking permission to carry out for over one year. In fact this issue is expected to be discussed at today's meeting of the KGD6 management committee, which is made up of representatives of RIL, BP, DGH and oil ministry.

Even sources at RIL said they have been getting positive feelers from the oil ministry since yesterday on the pre-development issue.  The ministry has been saying pre-development is not explicitly permitted in the production sharing contract.

But now sources say acknowledges it as an activity RIL and BP need to carry out to increase gas production. As recently as Nov 25, that is two days after invoking arbitration against the government, RIL had once again asked for pre-development approval on a priority basis so that it can meet the Dec-April weather window.
