Gold prices remained nearly flat on August 18. Gold's October contracts on the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) opened at Rs 99,960 per 10 grams today, slightly higher than the previous closing price of Rs 99,838 per 10 grams.

"Gold prices were up [as] growing geopolitical risks reignited investor demand for safe-haven assets. The surge came amid heightened military conflict between Russia and Ukraine and rising trade tensions between the United States and China," said Religare Broking in its latest report.
