CG Power and Industrial Solutions has lost a crucial Indian Railways supply order after its Bengaluru-based subsidiary – GG Tronics India (GGT) - failed to meet the stipulated delivery timelines, the company informed on November 24.

The order, awarded by Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) in November 2024, was for supplying Loco Kavach systems under the Developmental Category. The contract required GGT to complete product development, secure Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) and obtain final approval from the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), all within a 12-month delivery period aligned to Version 4.0 specifications of the automatic train protection system.

While GGT said the Uniform Braking Algorithm - an advanced braking system designed for consistent performance across locomotive classes - has made “significant progress” in development and field validation, the mandatory approvals are still under process. As a result, supplies could not begin before the deadline, leading to cancellation of the order.

The company said ISA and RDSO approval activities are now in their “final stages”. GGT, however, remains eligible to participate in future railway tenders in the Developmental Category. With approvals expected in coming months, the company qualifies for bulk procurement rounds involving Version 4.0 systems equipped with its Universal Braking Algorithm.

GG Tronics is a 22-year-old electronic signalling and safety systems company specialising in Automatic Train Protection (Kavach/IRATPS), digital axle counters and CENELEC-certified safety products. It operates modern manufacturing and R&D facilities in Bengaluru.

Its parent, CG Power and Industrial Solutions, is a leading domestic engineering conglomerate with business lines in industrial systems, power systems, railway traction equipment, signalling relays, transformers, drives, motors and consumer appliances. The company has recently expanded into semiconductors through an OSAT facility and the Axiro Semiconductor design unit.

CG Power operates 18 manufacturing units across India and one in Sweden.
