AstraZeneca India Private Limited (AZIPL), the Global Capability Centre (GCC) of the pharmaceutical group AstraZeneca, on July 4 said it will invest Rs 250 crore ($30 million) in Chennai.
"The investment is to expand our Global Innovation and Technology Centre (GITC) in Chennai. This strategic expansion includes creating close to 1,300 roles focused on driving innovation, enhancing efficiency, and streamlining operations globally," the company stated.
Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa said, "We are thrilled to see AstraZeneca expanding their existing capacity with talent sourced from the huge talent pool available in TN. Their decision to reinvest and grow in Tamil Nadu is a powerful endorsement of our state – our people, our talent, and our policies."
"The rapid absorption of office spaces in Chennai underscores Tamil Nadu’s position as the Knowledge Capital of India," he added.
