58% Indian employees report high burnout rates: Report

According to the report titled 'India's HR Revolution: Building Workplaces for the Future’, released at the FICCI Innovation Summit 2024 on September 3, 2024, only 23 percent CXOs report very high levels of employee engagement in their organisation.

A significant 85 percent of Indian CXOs surveyed believe that ESG initiatives are essential or very important in driving HR strategies and aligning organisational culture with broader societal goals.

At least 58 percent of Indian employees have complained of high burnout rates, according to a recent study. Companies are increasingly prioritising comprehensive programmes to support employee well-being, with 79 percent offering professional development opportunities and 60 percent providing mental health support.

According to the report, India's HR Revolution: Building Workplaces for the Future, released at the FICCI Innovation Summit 2024 on September 3, only 23 percent CXOs report very high levels of employee engagement in their organisation.

The joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and Boston Consulting Group (BCG), underscores the growing recognition of the business value that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives bring, with 67 percent of CXOs believing that diverse teams improve overall performance and employee engagement. Additionally, 52 percent of organisations have set diversity targets across all levels.

Significance of ESG

A significant 85 percent of Indian CXOs surveyed believe that ESG initiatives are essential or very important in driving HR strategies and aligning organisational culture with broader societal goals.

Around 66 percent agree that environmental responsibility has become significantly more important in the past 1-2 years and are adapting to global and national ESG reporting standards. Talent management is another critical area, with 72 percent of organisations leveraging policy changes to enhance the work-life balance, recognising it as vital for talent retention.

The integration of generative AI in HR functions is creating bionic organisations that blend human creativity with technological precision. In fact, 45 percent of Indian companies have implemented or are piloting GenAI in their HR processes, with 93 percent reporting improved process efficiency and productivity as one of the key benefits.
