As the year comes to a close, car manufacturers are scrambling to increase sales and clear stocks by offering some major discounts on some of their most popular cars. We have compiled this mega list of year-ender discounts so you can take your pick and head on over to the dealership as soon as possible.
Jeep Grand Cherokee: Rs 11.85 lakh
Some of the biggest discounts on this list comes from the Jeep stable and the Grand Cherokee takes the cake. Jeep’s flagship SUV is available with total benefits amounting to Rs 11.85 lakh. This includes cash discounts, exchange benefits as well as corporate discounts. The Grand Cherokee is exclusively offered in a single petrol powertrain option. This 2-lite turbo-charged petrol engine is capable of producing 272 hp of maximum power and 400 Nm of peak torque. This is then mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission paired to all four wheels. Prices for the Jeep Grand Cherokee start at Rs 80.50 lakh and while the price may look steep, the Rs 11.85 lakh benefit makes for a very sweet deal.
Jeep Meridian: Rs 4.85 lakh
Next in line from Jeep India is the Meridian securing discounts and benefits amounting to Rs 4.85 lakh. The cash discount itself is a total of Rs 4 lakh, while the exchange and corporate benefits account for the remaining Rs 85,000. Priced at Rs 33.40 lakh, the Jeep Meridian is powered by a 2-litre diesel engine that produces 170 hp of maximum power and 350 Nm of peak torque. Unlike the Grand Cherokee, the Meridian is available with both 6-speed manual as well as 9-speed automatic transmission options, however, this is only available on the 4X2 variant. The 4X4 variant is offered exclusively with the 9-speed automatic gearbox.
Jeep Compass: Rs 2.05 lakh
Jeep’s entry-level SUV in India, the Compass also gets significant benefits amounting to Rs 2.05 lakh. Despite it being the company’s bread-and-butter product, sales of the SUV have taken a beating recently due to newer more affordable SUVs from competitors. Of course, the recent price hikes haven’t helped. As for the benefits, the compass receives a cash discount of Rs 1.50 lakh and exchange and corporate benefits amounting to Rs 40,000. However, for doctors, leasing companies and partners, there is an additional offer up to Rs 15,000. Prices for the Jeep Compass start at Rs 20.49 lakh and comes powered by the same 170 hp/350 Nm 2-litre diesel engine that powers the Meridian. Transmission options are also identical with a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic offered on the 4X2 variant and a 9-speed automatic exclusive to the 4X4 variant.
Volkswagen Tiguan: Rs 2.50 lakh
From the Volkswagen stable comes the Tiguan with total benefits amounting to Rs 2.50 lakh including a Rs 75,000 cash discount and exchange and corporate benefits totaling Rs 1.75 lakh. Additionally, some authorised dealerships are also providing special benefits and service packages totaling another Rs 1.70 lakh. The Volkswagen Tiguan is powered by a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 190 hp of maximum power and 320 Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to all four-wheels via a 7-speed DCT gearbox aided by Volkswagen’s 4Motion system. Prices for the Volkswagen Tiguan start at Rs 35.17 lakh.
Volkswagen Taigun: Rs 1.10 lakh
The Volkswagen Taigun is next in line with total benefits of Rs 1.10 lakh including the cash discounts, exchange benefits and corporate benefits. Like the Tiguan, there are also special offers from select dealerships of an additional Rs 36,000. Starting at Rs 11.62 lakh, the Taigun gets two engine options. The 1-litre turbo-petrol is capable of generating 115 hp of maximum power and 178 Nm of peak torque. This is then mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Then there is the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol which is capable of churning out 150 hp of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options on this powertrain include the 6-speed manual gearbox as well as a 7-speed DSG transmission.
Volkswagen Virtus: Rs 1.17 lakh
Volkswagen’s sole sedan in India, the Virtus, is also available with total benefits of Rs 1.17 lakh including all the usual suspects. This is in addition to the Rs 20,000 worth of special benefits for select authorised dealerships. Like the Taigun, the Virtus also gets two powertrain options, and these are the same as the SUV. The 1-litre turbo petrol produces 115 hp and 178 Nm and is paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. the second is the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol that generates 150 hp and 250 Nm and mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG automatic. Prices for the Volkswagen Virtus start at Rs 11.48 lakh, ex-showroom.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Rs 2 lakh
The Jimny may not have been expected to be a best-seller in Maruti Suzuki’s stable seeing as how niche the product really is. But sales may not have touched the company’s expectations since Maruti is now offering discounts of up to Rs 2.3 lakh on the entry-level Zeta variant of the SUV. The top-spec Alpha variant, however, is attracting a lower, but still significant, discount of Rs 1 lakh. Maruti Suzuki also recently introduced the Jimny Thunder Edition that starts at Rs 10.74 lakh, albeit for a limited time. The Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that generates 104.8 hp of maximum power and 134.2 Nm of pea torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic complete with Suzuki’s ALLGRIP Pro system.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx: Rs 40,000
Another of Maruti Suzuki’s newly launched models, the Fronx is attracting discounts and benefits totaling Rs 40,000. The Fronx is doing fairly well in terms of sales and Maruti Suzuki may be wanting to push sales further with the offers. The Fronx is based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and is powered by one of two engine options. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol is capable of producing 90 hp of maximum power and 113 Nm of peak torque. This is then mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic gearbox. The 1-litre turbo-charged petrol on the other hand produces 100 hp of maximum power and 147 Nm of peak torque and mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. Prices for the Maruti Suzuki Fronx start at Rs 7.46 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara: Rs 30,000
Another one from the Maruti Suzuki’s premium Nexa dealerships is the popular Grand Vitara. With discounts amounting to Rs 30,000, the Grand Vitara starts at Rs 10.70 lakh, ex-showroom. One of the highlights of the Grand Vitara is its hybrid engine option. The 1.5-litre petrol on its own produces 92 hp of maximum power and 122 Nm of peak torque. This is then mated to an electric motor that allows for total system power output of 115 hp max. The hybrid variant is available in a single e-CVT transmission option. The non-hybrid, 1.5-litre engine, on the other hand, is capable of producing 103 hp and 137 Nm and comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
Other Maruti cars
Maruti Suzuki is offering discounts on a lot of its other cars as well. For example, the Ciaz, Baleno and Ignis attract discounts between Rs 35,000 and Rs 65,000. The company hasn’t left out the Arena dealerships from its year-end discount bonanza, either. Hatchbacks such as the Swift, Alto K10 and S-Presso attract offers between Rs 25,000 and Rs 63,000 depending on variant and powertrain. The Celerio comes with benefits up to Rs 70,000 while the Eeco attracts benefits of up to Rs 35,000.
Mahindra XUV400: Rs 4.2 lakh
The first electric on this list, the Mahindra XUV400 is being offered with benefits amounting to Rs 4.2 lakh on models that do not get electronic stability control while those with ESC attract a slightly lower Rs 3.2 lakh discount. Starting at Rs 15.99 lakh, the XUV400 is driven by a 150 hp electric motor that generates 310 Nm of peak torque. This is powered by two battery pack options. The lower EC variant of the XUV400 gets a 34.5 kWh battery pack that is good for a 375 km range according to the Modified Indian Driving Cycle (MIDC). The EL variant on the other hand is powered by a 39.4 kWh battery pack that allows for a range of 456 km according to the MIDC.
Mahindra XUV300: Rs 1.72 lakh
Next from the Mahindra range is the XUV300 attracting discounts of up to Rs 1.72 lakh including cash discounts, exchange bonuses and corporate benefits. Note that the maximum discounts are available on the top-spec W8 and W8(O) variants. With prices starting at Rs 7.99 lakh, the Mahindra XUV300 is powered by one of three engine options including an entry-level diesel and two petrol powertrains. The 1.5-litre diesel produces 115 hp of maximum power and 300 Nm of peak torque. The first 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 108 hp of maximum power and 200 Nm of peak torque. The slightly more powerful 1.2-litre TGDi turbo-petrol produces 129 hp of maximum power and 230 Nm of peak torque. This powertrain also has an over boost function which increases peak torque to 250 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
Honda City: Rs 88,600
From the Honda stable, you have the City sedan attracting discounts totaling Rs 88,600. Cash discounts of up to Rs 25,000 can be optioned for free accessories worth Rs 30,000. Additionally, exchange bonuses and corporate discounts further attract another Rs 46,000 as benefits. Honda is also offering extended warranties and loyalty discounts amounting to Rs 17,600. The Honda City is powered by a 1.5-litre engine that produces 121 hp of maximum power and 145 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox. Prices for the Honda City start at Rs 11.62 lakh.
Honda Amaze: Rs: 77,000
Honda’s entry-level Amaze is in the running as well with benefits amounting to Rs 77,000. This includes a cash discount of Rs 35,000 which, like the City, can be optioned for free accessories instead. The Honda Amaze is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that produces 90 hp of maximum power and 110 Nm of peak torque. Transmissions options include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox with prices starting at Rs 7.09 lakh.
Hyundai i20: Rs 50,000
In order to clear stocks, Hyundai is offering the old pre-facelift i20 cars with benefits amounting to Rs 50,000. The i20 N-Line on the other hand gets a straight up cash discount of Rs 50,000 while the facelifted i20 is attracting total benefits of Rs 20,000 which includes a cash discount of Rs 10,000. The facelifted i20 is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine that produces 83 hp of maximum power and 114 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). The i20 N-Line, on the other hand, comes powered by a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine that generates 120 hp of maximum power and 172 Nm of peak torque. Gearbox options for the N-Line include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT. Prices for the i20 and i20 N-Line start at Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 9.99 lakh, respectively.
Hyundai Tucson: Rs 1.5 lakh
Hyundai’s premium SUV, Tucson, is also available with some significant discounts amounting to Rs 1.5 lakh including cash discounts, exchange bonuses and corporate benefits. Prices for the Hyundai Tucson start at Rs 29.01 lakh, ex-showroom and the SUV comes powered by either a petrol or a diesel powertrain option. The 2-litre petrol engine is mated to a single 6-speed automatic and generates 156 hp of maximum power and 192 Nm of peak torque. The 2-litre diesel is similarly mated to a 6-speed automatic and produces 186 hp of maximum power and 416 Nm of peak torque.
Hyundai Kona EV: Rs 3 lakh
The second electric vehicle on our list is the Hyundai Kona attracting a major Rs 3 lakh worth of benefits including the cash discounts, exchange bonuses and corporate benefits. Unlike most electrics in India today, the Hyundai Kona is available with only a single battery pack option. This 39.2 kWh pack powers a 136 hp electric motor that is capable of generating 395 Nm in torque. According to Hyundai, the battery can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in just 50 percent using a DC charger and is capable of propelling the car for a total of 452 km on a single full charge according to ARAI. Prices for the Hyundai Kona start at Rs 23.84 lakh.
Other Hyundai cars:
The rest of Hyundai’s stable looks equally discounted with the big discounts coming in for the Grand i10 Nios and Verna at Rs 48,000 and Rs 45,000 respectively. Other cars like the Hyundai Aura and the Alcazar attract benefits of up to Rs 33,000 and Rs 35,000 respectively.
