BJP candidate from Bikaner East, Siddhi Kumari, is in the spotlight in the Rajasthan assembly polls 2023.
According to reports, she turned into a billionaire from a millionaire in five years. In 2018, her total wealth was reported at Rs 8.89 crore but this year it surged to over Rs 100 crore, according to the current affidavit of the Election Commission.
Known to be a “recluse”, Kumari (50) lives in her private quarter in the city’s Lalgarh Palace complex. At her election office in the city, one of her aides, Mumtaz Ali Bhati, told Hindustan Times that the legislator did not like attending bereavements or turning up for weddings. “It’s in her nature, she’s not a show-person,” he told the newspaper. Kumari is the granddaughter of the late Karni Singh who was the state’s last Maharaja and five-time member of Parliament from Bikaner. Kumari won thrice from the Bikaner (East) seat that was carved out in 2008.

This increase in Kumari’s wealth can also be attributed to the inheritance of a substantial portion of her late grandmother, Sushila Kumari's, property. It was valued at over Rs 80 crore, according to reports. Sushila Kumari was a member of the erstwhile Bikaner royal family. She died in March this year.
After Sushila Kumari’s death, a part of her property was transferred to Siddhi Kumari. According to India Today, due to this, Siddhi Kumari's immovable assets surged from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 85.78 crore. Her movable assets rose from Rs 3.67 crore in 2018 to Rs 16.52 crore in 2023.
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who is contesting from Jhalrapatan, has seen an increase in her jewelry and cash holdings. Her jewelry's worth has gone up from Rs 1.08 crore in 2018 to Rs 2.40 crore in the current affidavit. Her cash holdings increased from Rs 1.29 lakh to Rs 2.05 lakh. Her bank deposits too have risen from Rs 51.24 lakh to Rs 58.74 lakh.
Meanwhile, CP Joshi, the Congress candidate from Nathdwara assembly seat in Rajsamand district, reported assets worth Rs 3.72 crore. As per the affidavit, he did not own any jewelry and had only Rs 36,551 in cash.
