Assembly Elections 2023 Highlights: BJP moves EC against Rahul Gandhi over 'panauti' remark against PM

Over the last two weeks, hundreds of Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) members have campaigned extensively in Rajasthan seeking a second consecutive term for the Ashok Gehlot-led government in the November 25 elections, campaigning for which ends on Thursday evening. IOC Secretary Virendra Vashisth, who is also campaigning along with the NRIs in the state, told IANS, "For over last two weeks, hundreds of NRIs have returned to the state to participate in campaigning.They are also indulging in door to door campaign of the party enumerating the Congress government's achievements during its rule to every household."

On AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi threatening a police officer during his public rally in Hyderabad, BJP leader HB Sarma in Telangana's Golconda said, "If this had happened in Assam, the matter would have been settled within 5 mins. Due to appeasement politics in Telangana, neither BRS nor Congress is saying anything...If you can openly threaten the police, then people will feel threatened. I request the Election Commission to cancel his candidature."

The chief of BJP, JP Nadda, while campaigning for party candidate Shankar Sharma at a public event in Dausa, accused the Rajasthan government run by the Congress party of widespread corruption today. He also said, "We have to change the picture and fate of the state. As per the National Crime Records Bureau, the state tops the list when it comes to atrocities against women. The government hoodwinked the farmers. Did they waive off the loans of the state farmers?"

Kishan Reddy, spoke to ANI on PM Modi's visit, stating that the Prime Minister will be in Telangana for three days, November 25, 26, and 27, and that the state requires a "double-engine" government. The BJP president claimed that even if the Congress seeks to create a government in Telangana, the people will not "bless" the party.

"The BRS nexus with BJP has resulted in a loss of nearly 65 lakh jobs for Telangana...20,000 posts of teachers are lying vacant. The Telangana Public Service Commission has become a den of corruption with 15 paper leaks, frequent rescheduling of exams and postponements...KCR has made the most progressive state of India that Congress carved out, Telangana, as the suicide capital for the young," said Congress leader Randeep Surjewala.

"People belonging to the OBC community should know that the reservation as per Mandal Commission report was not given under the rule of Congress party's goverment in the Centre but due to the struggles and hard work of BSP, under the central government led by VP Singh they got this facility," said BSP chief Mayawati in Suryapet.

"This is an important election. We are fighting this election against corruption... The development that you wanted didn't happen. Neither the road is fine nor the irrigation happened... But KCR is not worrying. He makes all the decisions while sitting in his farmhouse and never meets the people," said Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge in Jogulamba Gadwal.

"I am very sure that Tamil people in Hyderabad this time will vote for PM Modi, they will vote for the BJP, they will vote for the progress of Telangana. I am very confident this time BJP will come to power in Telangana because of the people of the state have decided to reject both the BRS and Congress," said Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai.

In a major setback for the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government in Telangana, the Joint Action Committee of Telangana Muslim organisations has decided to extend their support to the Congress party for the November 30 State Legislative Assembly election.The decision to extend the support was taken at a meeting of the heads of the state committee and district committees of the Muslim JAC held in Hyderabad on November 11

On Rajasthan assembly elections, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, "...Under the leadership of PM Modi, the people of Rajasthan are eager to bring a double-engine government... In five years, the Ashok Gehlot government has destroyed Rajasthan... It has become an alternative to bad governance... So people will remove them and bring the BJP government..."

Chief minister Ashok Gehlot said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's roadshow was a failure. "It was a roadshow of just 9 km. They were so nervous and called people from outside... They never discuss the local issues," he said.

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot said, " There are 200 candidates contesting the election, I got requests from around 150 places but I can't go everywhere (for election campaign), so I am appealing to everyone that I'm contesting the election from all these 200 seats...I request them to repeat this govt again...you (people) don't have to see who is contesting from the local level..."

Dr. AM Singhvi, a Congress leader, addressed a press conference, accusing the BRS government in Telangana of violating the Model Code of Conduct.
