Skincare tips: Revive your skin after Diwali with these dermatologist backed glow tips

Skincare tips: Post-Diwali skincare calls for more than just face wash and moisturiser. After days of sweets, pollution, and late nights, your skin craves a reset. Dermatologist shares tips to revive and repair dull, tired skin using a balance of hydration, antioxidant care, and mindful skincare routines.

The sparkle of Diwali might light up your spirit, however, the busy days and lack of proper hydration, along with smoky air, sugar rushes, makeup marathons, and the endless late-night card parties, can impact your skin negatively.

What many don’t realise is that the festive period throws your skin into complete chaos. Dr Purva Bambhania, dermatologist and aesthetic physician, says, “Excess sugar, lack of sleep, and heavy makeup break down the skin barrier. The key post-Diwali is to repair, rehydrate, and then revive the skin, in that order.”

Don’t jump straight into random serums or new actives, she says, “Instead, focus on gently repairing the skin. Your skin barrier likely took a hit thanks to Diwali’s smoke, sweat, and sparkle.” Begin with mild exfoliation to remove impurities and let your skin breathe again. “Use a non-abrasive exfoliator, preferably with lactic or mandelic acid – something your skin can handle even if it’s feeling fragile,” advises Dr Bambhania.

Serums and creams: These are rich in hyaluronic acid and antioxidants are your post-festive best friends. Look for ingredients like haenkenium, a powerful antioxidant that supports skin repair and protects against pollution.

Rehydrate well: Dull, dehydrated skin is often a cry for water, and not just the kind you put on your face. Step up your internal hydration with more water and antioxidant-rich foods like berries, citrus, and leafy greens. For more visible, long-lasting results, Dr Bambhania recommends looking into bio-remodelling treatments like Profhilo.

“It’s not a filler, it’s an injectable moisturiser that stimulates collagen and elastin production,” she explains. “It works beneath the skin surface to restore firmness and improve texture, naturally, and without altering expressions.”

Maintain the glow: daily rituals that work

Consistency is your secret weapon. Even if your skin’s glowing post-detox, it won’t last without a simple, daily routine. Here’s how to keep that Diwali glow alive:

  • Never skip sunscreen, even indoors

  • Sleep well your skin regenerates overnight

  • Hydrate regularly, not just when you feel dry

  • Eat clean, antioxidant-rich meals

  • Use minimal, calming products that support your barrier

Dr Bambhania tells, “Skin health is not about how many products you use – it’s about what you use, and how consistently you use it. Go slow, and let your skin recover in peace.” Post Diwali, while you put away the lights and sweets, give your skin the same thoughtful care. You don’t need a 10-step routine, just a little kindness, and maybe a serum or two.
