Aishwarya Rai may not be in the public eye as much, but her rare appearances continue to make headlines. She recently walked the ramp for L’Oréal in Paris, stunning onlookers with her reimagined Indian sherwani studded with diamonds, designed by none other than Manish Malhotra.

The beauty queen stole the spotlight in a custom-made Indian sherwani in a royal indigo hue by Manish Malhotra. According to the designer, the ensemble, rooted in heritage menswear, was visualised through an androgynous lens. It made both a power statement and exuded modern sensuality.

Manish shared more about the design on his Instagram account, where he detailed the “10-inch diamond-embroidered cuffs” that add beauty to her ensemble, doubling up as armour and adornment. The back was nothing short of spectacular, featuring layered diamond scallops that cascaded like an extravagant necklace, which the designer compared to the “opulence of a nau lakha haar.”

The actress walked the ramp in style, carrying all the details beautifully. Be it the bandhgala jacket, diamond-studded buttons in the front, padded shoulders, the studded cuffs, and the works — Aishwarya looked every bit graceful and feminine. Her jacket was paired with matching pants and accessorised with high heels, diamond studs, and rings.

The brooches on her jacket couldn’t be missed either. The designer added, “Diamond-studded animal brooches serve as more than ornament; they are emblems of strength, guardians of grace, and contemporary talismans. Their brilliance punctuates the silhouette with light, while fine embroideries along the trousers add subtle artistry in motion.”
