The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has started the online application process for the recruitment of Sub Inspectors (Excise) in the state's Prohibition, Excise, and Registration Department. Candidates can apply for the 28 available vacancies starting today, February 27, 2025, through the official website, bpssc.bih.nic.in. The last date to submit applications is 27 March 2025.

Key Details of the Recruitment

Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

Age Limit:

  • General Category Men: 20 to 37 years (as of 1 August 2024).
  • General Category Women: 20 to 40 years.
  • Backward and Extremely Backward Classes (Men and Women): 20 to 40 years.
  • Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Third Gender Candidates: 20 to 42 years.

Selection Process

The recruitment will be conducted in three stages:

  • Preliminary Written Examination: A single paper of 200 marks with 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) on general knowledge and current affairs. Candidates must secure at least 30% marks to qualify for the mains.
  • Main Written Examination: Two papers – General Hindi (qualifying) and General Studies, General Science, Civics, Indian History, Geography, Mathematics, and Mental Ability.
  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Includes race, high jump, long jump, and shot put.

Application Fee
  • General, Backward Class, Extremely Backward Class, and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Male Candidates: Rs. 700.
  • SC, ST, Female, and Third Gender Candidates: Rs. 400.
