Whether it’s your homemade Italian pasta or roasted vegetables and chicken, garlic powder is an ingredient used to season almost every dish for flavour. While its pungent taste is what people enjoy the most, many might not know that it also comes with several benefits.
Health benefits of garlic powder: What makes it power-packed?
- Contains essential minerals to support bone health: Garlic powder, made by dehydrating and grinding the garlic cloves, contains essential minerals, such as iron and phosphorus, that keep us robust. Dietitian Kate Patton explained to the Cleveland Clinic how iron and phosphorus work together to perform vital body functions, such as building strong bones, supporting muscle function, and protecting nerve health. This is especially important for postmenopausal womenwho suffer from bone loss.

While garlic powder may have smaller amounts of vitamins and minerals compared to fresh garlic, it is cheaper, available throughout the year, and has a longer shelf life.
