A new trend that aims to maximise your sleep is going viral on social media platforms like TikTok right now called sleepmaxxing. While some aspects of sleepmaxxing can provide healthy benefits, others could have harmful effects, especially things like mouth taping and the use of supplements.
To help separate myths from healthy hacks that work, here are some sleepmaxxing trends that may help you get better sleep.

TikTok believes so, but the commodification of sleep is one drawback of the trend to prioritise a healthy habit.
A key ingredient in the viral Sleepy Girl mocktail (a soothing, delicious concoction made of tart cherry juice, magnesium, and soda, designed to help you catch some sleep) is magnesium. Some machines, like high-tech alarm clocks, have white noise functions, but a fan or an app on the phone can provide the same service.
Mouth breathing increases snoring. Mouth-taping claims to help stop that, but there’s not enough research to support that claim. It can also be harmful for people with sleeping disorders, where snoring is a symptom.
