Social media is a place where you can find a lot of advices and remedies for a slew of things. Sometimes, one can find a gamechanger life hack, however, one needs to also exercise caution, as some of the remedies can actually be just hoaxes. One of the viral remedies that has been doing the rounds is how one can give chuna (calcium hydroxide) or plaster of Paris (calcium sulfate) with yogurt to boost the height of one's children. Well, the doctors have flagged this and said that it doesn't work at all.

As the viral remedy got more traction, one doctor stepped in to clear the misgivings around it. She shared how a mom had got her 11-year-old daughter to her who had the problem of irregular period. The girl had recently started getting her periods and she would experience abnormal and prolonged flow. The same woman showed this doctor the viral video and actually asked if she could give her daughter the same mixture to increase her height.

FAQs on ways to grow height of children:

1. At what age do children typically stop growing in height?

Most children experience their fastest growth during puberty. For girls, growth typically slows down by age 14–15, while for boys it usually continues until around age 16–18. However, genetics and health can influence this.

2. Can nutrition really impact a child’s height growth?

Yes. Proper nutrition is essential. A balanced diet rich in protein, calcium, vitamin D, zinc, and other nutrients supports bone growth and overall development, which can influence height.

3. Does physical activity help children grow taller?

Regular physical activity, especially stretching, jumping, swimming, and sports like basketball, helps strengthen bones and muscles, supports posture, and stimulates growth hormones.

4. Are height growth supplements for kids effective and safe?
Most healthy children don’t need supplements if they have a balanced diet. Supplements should only be used under medical advice, as improper use can be ineffective or even harmful.

5. Can sleep affect a child’s growth?
Yes. Growth hormone is primarily released during deep sleep. Ensuring children get enough quality sleep (8–11 hours depending on age) is crucial for optimal growth.
