Even though smartphones these days come with a great battery life, but our usage is so much that the battery drains out every now and then. How many times has it happened to you that you had to plug in the charger while talking on phone? A lot of you will probably answer 'many times'.
Well, a California-based doctor, Dr Pedi Mirdamadi, has a warning for you. In his Instagram post, he highlighted that talking on phone while it is being charged can lead to rise in electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure. He said that it emitted up to 15 times more radiation as compared to other times. "When you’re putting your phone by your head and speaking on it while it’s charging, you are exposing your brain to this increased amount of EMF," he explained.
A lot of you will recall that this subject had gained traction in the past. A lot of people believed then, but then there were skeptics who rubbished the claims. “There are some concerns about heavy cell phone use and certain brain cancers, but the research is inconclusive. But if you ask me, I will not take any chances when it comes to my brain health," Dr Mirdamadi had added.
Dr Mirdamadi is definitely someone who believes in eliminating risk rather than bearing the consequences later on. Talking about his cautious approach, he shared that he charges his phone at night in the bathroom and while making calls, he uses speaker mode. “Brain cancer is a nasty thing and has affected so many people, so I do not take any chances,” he wrote.
Take a look at his post:
If you too are someone who wants to reduce EMF exposure as much as possible, then you should do the following things.
1. Charge phone at night in another room away from where you're sleeping
2. Keep your phone on airplane mode while it is getting charged
2. Use speaker mode or wired headset when on calls instead of holding the phone close to your ear.
FAQs on electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure:
1. What are electromagnetic fields (EMFs)?
EMFs are invisible energy waves produced by electrical devices, Wi-Fi, and cell phones.
2. Is EMF exposure harmful?
Current research shows low-level EMFs from everyday devices are generally safe for most people.
3. Can EMFs cause health problems?
High levels can be harmful, but everyday exposure is far below those limits.
4. How can I reduce EMF exposure?
Use speakerphone or headphones, keep devices away from your body, and unplug electronics when not in use.
5. Do EMF shields or blockers work?
There’s little scientific evidence that EMF-blocking products provide meaningful protection.
