Alaya F is quite a health and fitness enthusiast who loves to share snippets of her workouts, DIY recipes, reading routine, and more with fans. For the past few months, she was busy documenting her second round of the 75 Hard challenge this year, but little did she know it would be her hardest ever due to a “mystery illness” that took months to diagnose.

In her sit-down video on Instagram, the actress said she doesn’t have progress photos but rather a personal story to share. She revealed that fans are probably used to seeing her lean and fit, but for the major part of the challenge, her stomach looked swollen. She shared the pictures to show the difference between her body then and now.

“I had a mystery illness that we just couldn’t seem to diagnose. It turned out to be a severe case of something called SIBO, which causes constant bloating, terrible fatigue, inflammation, nutrient malabsorption, slow muscle recovery, low strength, and brain fog,” she said.

She called her illness “the worst thing” that could have happened during 75 Hard, adding that she has been on antibiotics for over 50 days now. For Alaya, this 75 Hard was nothing close to any of her experiences before. “It’s safe to say that this 75 Hard was completely different from the last time I did it,” she said.

She recounted how earlier her workouts were more about pushing herself to her limits, but this time it was only about showing up and getting the bare minimum done. “Last time I watched my body sculpt and transform. This time, I wasn’t seeing any progress. I was only seeing symptoms,” she added.

Not just this, in the previous 75 Hard, she kept adding more habits, more structure, more intensity. But this time, she only managed to complete the bare minimum and was content with that.
In the end, she added that she has learnt to be content and happy even when things don’t go as planned. “I realised that it's super easy to feel proud when everything looks great. But it's truly life-changing to feel proud when nothing looks great.” And her biggest lesson? “True discipline is never about intensity. It’s always about consistency.”
