Zakir Khan has been all over the news this week—and for good reasons. The comic, loved for his “sakht launda” wit and relatable jokes, just pulled off something historic: a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden in New York. Yes, the same legendary stage where global icons perform.
And adding even more warmth to the moment, celebrity chef Vikas Khanna decided to celebrate in his own style. Vikas Khanna shared a video from his restaurant Bungalow in NYC, where he personally served Zakir and his friends. “Myshu serving Zakir is one of the most wholesome moments for me,” he wrote on Instagram.
This wasn’t just a one-off. Vikas Khanna has been rooting for Zakir for a while. Back in March 2024, before the MSG gig, he posted: “Bhai next time, Madison Square Garden… God is kind to people who are kind.” Turns out, he was right. The post went viral again after Zakir’s big night.
Vikas Khanna’s another post before Zakir event gained fans attention, Vikas wrote in caption, " I’m writing this with my heart full of pride and emotion. As an Indian living in New York for over 26 years, this feels like one of the greatest moments of inspiration & honor — to witness an Indian artist perform to a sold-out Madison Square Garden. And that too… in Hindi. On August 17, 2025, Zakir Khan will make history as the first stand-up comedian to headline a Hindi-language show at MSG — a landmark moment for Indian comedy on the global stage.
He added "I’ve known Zakir for years, and I always knew that only he carried the patriotic fire to prove that “we are enough” and “we have arrived.” Thank you, bhai, for leading the way and creating history. Can’t wait to see the son of Ismail Khan and Kusum Khan from Indore conquer New York City. To celebrate the moment on Aug 17th, we will serve sesame & caramel barfi to honor his parents."

To make it even more memorable, Vikas revealed that sesame caramel barfi—a traditional sweet—was specially made and served during the August 17 performance. He called it a tribute to Zakir’s parents and a way to honor his cultural roots.
What’s Next
For Zakir, the MSG show isn’t just a personal win. It’s a breakthrough for Hindi stand-up comedy on a global stage. Speaking to the crowd of 6,000, he called it a “big day” and a “special milestone.”
From winning Comedy Central’s India’s Best Stand-Up back in 2012 to creating hit specials like Haq Se Single and Tathastu, Zakir has constantly stretched the boundaries of desi comedy. His Madison Square Garden performance now stands as a turning point—not just for him, but for every aspiring comic dreaming of taking Hindi jokes worldwide.
