In a recent and unexpected revelation, television actor Mohsin Khan, best known for his portrayal of Kartik Goenka in the popular Indian TV series "Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai," opened up about a significant health crisis he faced. At just 31 years old, the actor suffered a heart attack, a shocking event that sent waves of concern through his fans and the broader television industry.
Mohsin Khan, now 32, discussed his health ordeal in an interview with Pinkvilla, where he candidly shared the details of the heart attack that struck him at such a young age. "I hadn't thought of going on such a long break. I did plan for about a year and a half, but after that, I fell sick," Mohsin explained. He revealed that he developed a fatty liver, which, unbeknownst to many, was the underlying cause of his heart attack. "I developed a fatty liver which caused a mild heart attack. I haven't revealed this to anyone before. I was admitted for some time," he confessed, highlighting the severity of his condition.
Fatty liver disease, particularly the non-alcoholic type (NAFLD), is a growing health concern globally. It is often linked to lifestyle factors such as diet and lack of exercise, but can also occur in those who do not drink alcohol, making it a silent but dangerous condition. In Mohsin's case, the disease had progressed to the point where it affected his heart, leading to a mild heart attack.
The actor's battle with his health didn't end there. He shared that he had to change hospitals three times in search of the right treatment, indicating the complexity and severity of his condition. "My immunity weakened. I fell sick every few days. Now, I am much better, and it is all under control," Mohsin stated, offering a glimmer of hope regarding his recovery.
The heart attack and the subsequent health challenges forced Mohsin to take an unplanned and prolonged break from his acting career. This break, which was initially meant to be a temporary respite, stretched into a much longer period as he focused on regaining his health. Mohsin had been an integral part of "Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai" since 2016, appearing in nearly 1,800 episodes by 2018. The actor had continuously worked for 7.5 years in the industry, without taking a significant break, which eventually took a toll on his health.
"I have completed 10 years in the industry. Out of the 10 years, I have continuously worked for 7.5 years and have taken a break of 2.5 years. After starring in 1,800 episodes, I just felt like taking a break. So mainly the break was for that reason, but then I fell sick," Mohsin shared, emphasizing how the demands of his career may have contributed to his health decline.
During the interview, Mohsin highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, particularly in a demanding profession like acting. "The condition is called non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. It all happens when you don’t have a fixed sleep pattern, and don’t eat right; all this matters," he explained, stressing that such conditions are more common than many might think. "I think the condition is quite common, but we need to stay quite conscious about it," Mohsin advised, offering his own experience as a cautionary tale.
The actor's story underscores the critical need for health awareness, especially among young professionals who often prioritize their careers over their well-being. The pressures of constant work, irregular schedules, and neglect of proper diet and sleep can have severe long-term consequences, as evidenced by Mohsin's
Despite the challenges, Mohsin Khan remains optimistic about his recovery and future. His candid sharing of his health struggles not only serves as a source of inspiration but also as an important reminder to his peers and fans alike about the importance of health. The actor’s journey through this difficult period has been marked by resilience and a newfound appreciation for the delicate balance between work and health.
