Netflix has confirmed that viewers in countries such as the US, Canada, Argentina, and Portugal will face the new monthly price increases.

In a decision that could disappoint many subscribers, Netflix has revealed plans to increase its subscription prices. However, this price hike will not affect all countries, and the change will be implemented selectively across different regions.

The recent price hike will impact all Netflix plans, including the standard with ads, standard without ads, and the Premium 4K version.

Netflix has confirmed that viewers in countries such as the US, Canada, Argentina, and Portugal will face the new monthly price increases. However, subscribers in India can breathe easy, as the current subscription rates will remain unchanged for now.

In a bit of good news for viewers, the Netflix standard plan with ads remains available in select regions, excluding India. For these users, the plan is priced at $7.99 per month (approximately Rs 687). The ad-free standard plan costs $17.99 (about Rs 1,540) per month, while the premium 4K plan is priced at $24.99 (around Rs 2,140).

The company has explained that this increase is driven by its continuous efforts to provide more value and content to its subscribers.

With more than 300 million paid memberships, excluding Extra Member accounts, and multiple users per household, Netflix is reaching an estimated global audience of over 700 million.

Understanding that every household has its own entertainment preferences, the company is committed to offering a diverse range of high-quality content to cater to everyone's tastes.

Netflix is riding a wave of momentum, building on a year of record net additions (41 million) and a strong 16% revenue growth. The company holds a leading position in terms of engagement, with approximately two hours of viewing per paid membership each day, alongside impressive revenue ($39 billion) and operating income ($10 billion), all within a growing market.

The global landscape is expanding with over 750 million broadband households (excluding China and Russia) and more than $650 billion in entertainment revenue across the four markets Netflix operates in, yet the company only captured around 6% of this market in 2024. Additionally, Netflix accounts for less than 10% of TV viewing in every country it serves, indicating significant opportunities for further growth as streaming continues to gain traction worldwide.
