Chinese actor, singer, model, and film director, Alan ‘Yu’ Menglong, tragically died after allegedly falling from a building, confirmed his management team. Fans and the Chinese film industry are mourning the death of the late actor.
Menglong was born in Ürümqi, Xinjiang, on June 15, 1988. He completed his high school at the Beijing Contemporary Music Academy. He graduated from the Beijing Performing Arts Training College.
He made his TV debut in 2007 with Dragon Television’s My Show. Although he didn’t win, he advanced to the top 16 in the Xi’an division. He then competed in Hunan Television’s Super Boy 2010 and finished in the top five of the Sohu online direct pass division.
Menglong later became a trainee with the boy group Happy Boy Group 8090.
After winning the Beijing division and placing tenth nationally in 2013, he made a comeback to the Super Boy competition and signed with EE-Media. He released a number of music projects in addition to his representative works, which include the fantasy period drama Eternal Love and the web drama Go Princess Go.
He also directed singer Deanna Ding's music video for her single ‘61 Seconds’ in the same year.
Menglong made his acting debut with the short film The Little Prince. He again competed in Super Boy in 2013 and bagged a spot in the top 10 contenders. Following the gig, he released his first single titled Just Nice.
The actor rose to prominence after he starred in the short film The Rules, which received the Best Independent Film award at the 4th International Micro Film Festival for University.
He went on to star in the hit fantasy-romance drama Eternal Love. He became a household name in the country after his performance in the fantasy-action drama Xuan-Yuan Sword: Han Cloud alongside Zhang Yunlong.

His credits also include a television adaptation of the Chinese folktale legend, Legend of the White Snake; a modern workplace drama, Who's Not Rebellious Youth; and a youth sports drama, Unstoppable Youth. In 2020, Yu starred in the historical drama The Love Lasts Two Minds.
For the unversed, Alan ‘Yu’ Menglong died on September 11 after falling from a residential building in Chaoyang District, Beijing, at the age of 37.
