Shah Rukh Khan, the King of Bollywood has always been admired for his charm, wit, and unmatched stardom. But beyond cinema, he has also won hearts for the way he lives embracing inclusivity and respect for all religions. His marriage to Gauri Khan, a Hindu, and the way they raise their three children Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam reflects this balance beautifully.
Nearly two decades ago, in 2004, fans got a rare glimpse into this side of SRK through the documentary The Inner and Outer World of Shah Rukh Khan. In it, the superstar spoke about raising his children with awareness and respect for both Hindu and Muslim traditions. He proudly shared how his kids showed equal devotion when reciting the Gayatri Mantra as they did while offering Namaz.
That philosophy came to life again in an old video that resurfaced recently on social media. The clip, shot inside his iconic Mumbai home Mannat, shows Shah Rukh Khan taking fans into his family’s prayer area. What stood out was the sight of Hindu idols placed right next to the Quran—a symbolic representation of unity and respect for all faiths.
Explaining the significance of this, SRK said:
“Children should know about the value of God, whether it’s a Hindu god or a Muslim god. So, next to Ganesh and Laxmi, we have the Quran also. We put our hands together and say the Gayatri Mantra, which my son says, and I say ‘bismillah’ with him.”
In the same clip, Khan grew visibly emotional, admitting how he sometimes felt humbled while teaching his children:
“It makes me feel very emotional, where I’m teaching my children something that I also don’t know very well. I’m not a great follower of religion. I believe in Allah very strongly.”
The candidness of the statement touched fans deeply. Even while acknowledging that he isn’t rigid in following rituals, SRK stressed the importance of instilling in his children the values of awareness, devotion, and respect.
The video also captured some unscripted moments that showed Khan’s pride in his son Aryan. He said:
“He knows the Gayatri mantra completely… Children need to know the Hindu place or the Muslim place. So they should be aware, along with Ganesh and Lakshmi… I feel good where I teach my children. There’s some that I don’t know much about. I’m not a good lover of religion, I have great hope in Allah.”
These throwback clips remind fans why Shah Rukh Khan is admired far beyond his films. At a time when religious identities can create divides, he showed that a family could honor both Ganesh and the Quran under the same roof. For him, faith is not about strict rules but about nurturing love, inclusivity, and respect for the divine in every form.
Even today, the sight of Ganesh idols placed alongside the Quran in Mannat continues to symbolize the values SRK holds dear. It’s a powerful lesson passed on to his children—and through moments like these, to the world as well.
