Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan are one of Bollywood's most iconic power couples, inspiring generations with their enduring love story spanning over three decades of marriage. However, their journey to happily ever after was not without challenges. Gauri’s parents initially opposed their relationship due to religious differences and Shah Rukh’s budding status in the film industry. Despite these obstacles, the couple remained steadfast, and Shah Rukh eventually won over Gauri’s family with his determination and charm.
In a heartfelt recollection from an old interview, Shah Rukh once shared a light-hearted anecdote about their wedding day, where he playfully pranked Gauri’s parents.
Recalling a humorous incident from his wedding day, Shah Rukh shared how he playfully pranked Gauri’s family, leaving everyone in surprise. In an old interview, the Jawan actor narrated that during their traditional reception, which was held late at night, he arrived at around 1:15 a.m. to find Gauri’s family seated and whispering among themselves. The whispers revolved around their concerns about him being a Muslim, speculating if he would change Gauri’s name or if she would adopt his religion.
Shah Rukh then decided to lighten the atmosphere with his characteristic humour. Noticing that the conversations were all happening in Punjabi, he suddenly glanced at the time and, in a playful tone, announced, "Alright, Gauri, put on your burkha, and let’s read the namaaz now."
The statement left Gauri’s family wide-eyed and stunned, as they momentarily wondered if he had already persuaded her to adopt his traditions. Sensing the opportunity to extend the joke, Shah Rukh added, with mock seriousness, that Gauri would wear a burkha permanently and would never step out of the house.
The entire family was taken aback before realizing it was all in jest. This light-hearted prank not only showcased Shah Rukh’s quick wit but also his ability to handle sensitive situations with humor, turning what could have been an awkward moment into a memorable and cherished story. This incident perfectly reflects his charismatic personality and how he managed to win over Gauri’s family with his unique charm.
