Salman Khan and Sangeeta Bijlani first crossed paths at a party in 1988, quickly became inseparable. Their bond grew stronger, and they even worked together on a commercial. By the early 90s, their love story was well-known, and marriage was on the cards. In a 1993 interview, Salman had openly discussed his plans to marry, stating, "Yes, I plan to marry. When the time comes I will. It could be to Sangeeta (Bijlani) or to anybody else."
