Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, currently recovering after being attacked by an intruder at his Mumbai home early Thursday, has enjoyed a remarkable career that spans several decades. He made his acting debut in 1992 with Parampara, but it was his breakthrough role in Dil Chahta Hai (2001) that cemented his place in the industry, turning him into a household name. Renowned for his versatility, Saif has showcased his talent across a wide range of genres, from romantic comedies to intense, dramatic roles.
In a candid conversation in the past, Saif shared an amusing anecdote about his encounter with the Sultan of Brunei. He recalled receiving a gift from the Sultan, which he later attempted to sell to Bollywood producer Ramesh Taurani.
An old video of Saif Ali Khan's interview with East India Comedy recently resurfaced on social media, where the actor shared a fascinating story about one of the most expensive gifts he had ever received. In the video, Saif recalled meeting the daughter of the Sultan of Brunei, who was a huge Bollywood fan. This encounter took place during a high-profile meeting Saif had with the Sultan. The actor spoke about how the Sultan's daughter, appreciative of his work, gifted him something truly special, a gesture that left a lasting impression on him.
Recalling the meeting, Saif said, "I remember hoping that the Sultan of Brunei would not kill me. I was also surprised to see the things that those people used. The Sultan used to invite Michael Jackson to sing, he is very rich. I remember once he called us. I, Manisha Koirala and a few others met him at the Dorchester Hotel in London.”
He also shared a humorous anecdote from that meeting, where he found two chairs—one large and one small. Without giving it much thought, he casually sat on the larger chair, only to later realize that it was meant to be reserved for the Sultan. "When his daughter came to visit, she took a photo and gave me a box before leaving. When I opened the box, it contained a gold and diamond studded Rolex watch," he added.
Saif Ali Khan also shared a humorous story about the valuable watch he received, admitting that he once attempted to sell the gifted watch to Bollywood producer Ramesh Taurani while filming for Race. He continued, "Well, now that watch is with my wife. Although I tried to sell this watch during the shooting of Ramesh Taurani’s film Race, I even told him, ‘Sir, it’s for you’."
Saif Ali Khan's most recent appearance was in the Telugu film Devara: Part 1, where he starred alongside Jr. NTR and Janhvi Kapoor.
