When Ranveer Singh was thrown out of film Mohra's set for 'staring' at Raveena Tandon

Like many Bollywood fans, Ranveer Singh once had a starstruck moment. In an old interview, he humorously recalled being escorted off a film set for admiring Raveena Tandon a bit too much.

Ranveer recalled an incident where he was mesmerized by Raveena Tandon, mentioning that she was dressed in a white saree.

Ranveer Singh, one of the finest actors of this generation, has carved his path to success despite being an outsider in the film industry. Known for his infectious energy and powerhouse performances, he has established himself as a leading star. However, like many Bollywood fans, Ranveer once found himself starstruck early in his journey. In an old interview, he shared a hilarious anecdote about how he was once escorted off a film set for staring a little too long at Raveena Tandon.

During a round-table chat with Rajeev Masand which also had Akshay, Varun Dhawan and Anil Kapoor, Ranveer had once narrated the incident when The actor had visited the sets of Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon's film 'Mohra' and he was a teenager that time.

Ranveer recalled an incident where he was mesmerized by Raveena Tandon, mentioning that she was dressed in a white saree. However, Akshay Kumar interrupted to correct him, stating that the saree was actually yellow. Ranveer went on to admit that as a young boy, he couldn't help but gaze at Raveena ji in admiration.

Further continuing he said, "I was watching her with my eyes wide open, so she was getting a little uncomfortable. She asked one of the security guys to escort me away. For me, that was shattering. I was heartbroken that I was told to leave the set. I am almost in tears, when I feel this man’s hand on my shoulders.”

Ranveer reminisced about the same day, recalling that it was also the first time he met Akshay Kumar. He shared how, amidst his disappointment at being asked to leave the set, he turned around and saw Akshay, who complimented his haircut. That small gesture lifted his spirits, and he excitedly took a picture with the superstar.

Ranveer admitted that in that moment, he aspired to be like Akshay someday. Later, Varun Dhawan jokingly asked him if he had managed to get a picture with Raveena, to which Ranveer replied with a disappointed "no" and made a face.

His admiration for the actress led to an amusing moment that he still recalls with laughter. This lighthearted incident perfectly reflects his unabashed love for cinema and its stars, even before he became one of them.

Released in 1994, Mohra features Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Raveena Tandon in lead roles. The film follows the journey of journalist Roma and her boss Jindal, who secure the release of Vishal from prison after he helps Roma. However, as Vishal begins working for Jindal, he soon discovers that he is merely a pawn in a much larger game.

The song Tip Tip Barsa Paani from the film remains an iconic track even today, continuing to be a fan favorite across generations. Its timeless appeal, mesmerizing choreography, and captivating melody have cemented its place as one of Bollywood’s most celebrated rain songs.
