Nag Ashwin is the visionary director behind the ambitious Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas. Despite the scale and success of Kalki, the director remains as humble as ever. Now, he recently showed up at an interaction with students about filmmaking. Nag Ashwin offered a glimpse into his creative mind in a recent interaction with college students
Nag responded with an interesting answer when asked if there was any film he wished he had directed. “I always wished that it would be cool if I were the editor on Khaleja and maybe Dear Comrade,” he said, revealing his fondness for those films' underlying potential.
Interestingly, Khaleja, directed by Trivikram Srinivas and starring Mahesh Babu, was a commercial disappointment upon release but later developed a strong cult following, something Nag Ashwin has often acknowledged. Nag Ashwin believes he could have changed how the film was received.
Likewise, Dear Comrade, despite its initial failure, also found resonance among audiences over time. Nagi’s interest in these films reflects his ability to spot beauty in flawed brilliance and his desire to elevate storytelling through finer details.
