Bollywood actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda’s recent health scare took the industry by surprise. The 60-year-old actor was reportedly found unconscious at his Mumbai home before being rushed to the hospital, where doctors revealed he had accidentally shot himself in the leg. The incident, which took place in the early hours of October 1, left fans in disbelief. Thankfully, the actor has now been discharged and is recovering under medical supervision, with six weeks of prescribed bed rest.
Looking back, Govinda’s accident on Oct 1, 2024 was as bizarre as it was frightening. The Hero No. 1 star had been preparing to leave for a show in Kolkata around 4:45 am when his licensed revolver slipped from his hand and went off. The bullet hit his leg, leaving him momentarily dazed and bleeding. “Thoda gehra lag gaya tha… laga tab vishwas nahi hua,” Govinda recalled, describing the moment he realised what had happened.
During his first media appearance after leaving the hospital, the actor expressed deep gratitude toward the doctors, nurses, and support staff who helped him recover. “I want to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff for taking care of me during this critical time. Thank you to all the politicians and artists who called and visited. I have no words to express my gratitude,” he said.
Reflecting on the freak accident, Govinda made it clear that it was purely accidental and unrelated to any other issue. “Mere hathon se gun gir gayi and it fired. I felt a jolt and saw blood coming out,” he explained, adding that it was a sobering reminder of how unpredictable life can be.

He also offered a philosophical take on fame and the precautions it demands. When asked why he carried a gun, Govinda responded, “Fame is a flame. You have to be aware of the flame around you. When you achieve fame, you should be careful — while many people love you, some are jealous too.”
As he continues his recovery at home, Govinda thanked fans for their prayers and concern, calling their support his “true strength.” His wife, Sunita Ahuja, shared that he is doing well but has been advised to rest completely for six weeks.
