In the year 2016, for her red carpet appearance, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was seen in a light-colored off-the-shoulder gown with floral embroidery that had purple tones all over. Along with a body-fitting silhouette, which included a train.

Aishwarya, who is the most watched celebrity at any red carpet event, was trolled for her choice of lipstick. But it was her father-in-law and megastar Amitabh Bachchan's reaction that won many people's hearts.

He was asked about Ash's purple lipstick look at Cannes and then he told DNA back then, "What is wrong with that? Social media gives someone the opportunity to express themselves. You’ve never had that opportunity before; you never knew what others were thinking about you. At least now you know. And the good part is, it lasts for a day or half a day; the next day, something else comes up.”
