One of the biggest box office battles of 2025 took place this Friday when Rajinikanth's Coolie faced off against Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR, and Kiara Advani's War 2. Although both films have received positive reviews from viewers, their performance at the box office has fluctuated daily.

With Rs 65 crore in box office receipts on opening day, Rajinikanth's Coolie outperformed War 2 with Rs 52 crore. But by the second day, War 2 had surpassed its opponent, momentarily shifting the odds in its favour. Since then, the competition between these two titans of film has produced a lively and unpredictable race at the box office.

According to early estimates from a trading website, War 2 secured Rs 31 crore on day four (Sunday) across all languages. While slightly down from Saturday’s Rs 33.25 crore, the film held steady after an initial surge. This brings its four-day net total in India to an impressive Rs 173.60 crore. If the film sustains this pace, it is expected to close in on the ₹200 crore milestone in the coming days.

Coolie was released on August 14 and has gained tremendous traction. The Rajinikanth film recovered well over the weekend, even though it was momentarily overtaken on its second day. The movie made ₹34 crore on Sunday alone, bringing its total domestic earnings to ₹193.25 crore in all languages. With these figures, the movie will easily cross the ₹200 crore mark on Monday.

With ₹193.25 crore after four days, Coolie is clearly ahead of War 2, which has ₹173.60 crore. Nonetheless, the competition is still intense because both films attract sizable audiences, guaranteeing that the box office contest between Rajinikanth and Hrithik-Jr NTR will continue to enthral viewers.
