Vishal Dadlani voices against ghibli art photos trend

The ongoing debate about whether AI is undermining the talent of real artists has sparked global discussions, especially with the growing trend of sharing AI-generated Studio Ghibli-inspired images. Adding to the conversation, Bollywood singer Vishal Dadlani has now shared his reasons for opting out of this trend.

Vishal recently took a stand on the increasing popularity of AI-generated artwork that mimics the iconic Ghibli animation style. This trend, which has seen fans create AI-generated portraits of celebrities, including Vishal, has captured widespread attention on social media. However, the singer has made it clear that he does not support this phenomenon, particularly when it involves AI-driven art.

Taking to Instagram stories, Vishal shared a statement with his followers, stating, "Sorry I'm not sharing any of the Studio Ghibli style images you guys have made of or for me. I just can't bring myself to support AI's plagiarisation of an artist's life's work." With these words, he made his position clear, expressing his discomfort with AI systems creating artwork that he believes imitates and plagiarises the style of renowned artists.

Vishal’s concerns extended beyond artistic integrity. He also highlighted the environmental impact of AI technology, which is often overlooked in the excitement surrounding its capabilities. In his follow-up statement, he added, "Not to mention, the environmental horror that those images are. Please do NOT make any more. Thank you." Vishal's comment draws attention to the environmental costs associated with AI, as training AI models requires significant computational power, which in turn leads to substantial energy consumption and carbon emissions.

This move by Vishal Dadlani adds to the ongoing debate about the ethics of AI-generated art and the responsibility of both creators and consumers in using AI responsibly. While AI can undoubtedly be a powerful tool, Vishal's message reminds us of the importance of respecting human creativity and the potential consequences, both ethical and environmental, of relying on technology at the expense of artists’ work.

His stance has sparked conversation on social media, with many fans and fellow artists agreeing with his concerns, while others continue to embrace AI as a means of creative expression. Regardless of where one stands on the issue, Vishal’s voice adds weight to the growing discourse on the role of AI in the creative industries.
