Directed by SJ Suryah, the film was first released in 2000. The film is a cultural phenomenon that solidified Vijay's position as a budding star and demonstrated SJ Suryah's ability to successfully combine humour, romance, and emotion with commercial sensibilities.
The Tamil-language romantic comedy film is produced by A. M. Rathnam, and cinematography was done by Jeeva, while music was composed by Deva.
The film revolves around Shiva (played by Vijay) and Jennifer (played by Jyothika), two college students whose egos are constantly at odds despite their growing affection for one another. The film's tremendous success was largely due to the electric chemistry between the lead couple.
