Before she became a familiar face on the silver screen, actor Vidya Malavade lived through a deeply personal tragedy—one that forever altered the course of her life. On the 25th death anniversary of her first husband, Captain Arvind Singh Bagga, Vidya opened her heart to the world with a poignant Instagram post, reflecting on love, loss, and the memories that time has never been able to erase.

“25 years of not looking into your eyes, touching your face, holding you, talking nonstop nonsense, driving you nuts, laughing with you, crying in your arms, & feeling ‘safe’," she wrote in her emotional tribute. “Some connects live life after. Rest in peace, my beloved."

Captain Arvind Singh Bagga tragically lost his life in the crash of Alliance Air Flight 7412 in Patna in July 2000. Vidya was only 27 at the time and had been married to Arvind for just three years. The grief was unimaginable, a young life suddenly fractured by the cruel hand of fate. Though the years have passed, the void remains. And sometimes, it opens anew.

On June 12 this year, a devastating Air India crash near Ahmedabad claimed over 240 lives. For Vidya, the news was not just another headline—it stirred buried anguish. “The crash on 12th June hit where it hurts the most… & even though I may be forgetful… those memories, every single detail still so fresh in my mind… including how I FELT at what moment," she shared.

Despite the pain, Vidya has found strength in her journey, often drawing wisdom from her personal suffering. “A lifetime of unanswered questions! & even though I live life with no regrets… sometimes you miss someone for the way they made you feel… just makes us realise how fragile… precious & unpredictable life is… hold our dear ones close," she wrote.

Her reflections reveal not just the depth of her sorrow, but also her transformation. Choosing not to be defined by tragedy, Vidya has embraced life with openness and gratitude. “The only thing that really helped me is to live life in complete surrender & gratitude! It’s the way the most bitter lessons turn into blessings," she expressed.

To this day, Vidya feels Arvind's presence around her. “He’s still my guardian angel… my guiding light," she wrote, holding onto the bond that even death could not sever.

As a final tribute, she shared lyrics from their favorite song, Celine Dion’s timeless ballad: “My heart will go on .. with all the love you have poured in to it…Forever.. & our favourite song at the time."

Now married to filmmaker Sanjay Dayma since 2009, Vidya has carved out a successful career in cinema. From her debut in Inteha (2003) to her memorable role in Chak De! India (2007), and recent appearances in Sangee and the Netflix series Mismatched, her journey reflects resilience and grace.
