Tamil film director SS Stanley passed away in Chennai today (April 15) at a private hospital. He was suffering from various medical difficulties and was being treated at a private hospital in Chennai.
Following the news of his death, many industry colleagues and friends expressed their condolences to the family. Stanley, who was active in the Tamil industry, began his career in 2002.
During his 23-year-long career, he only made four films but appeared in 11 , including Raavananan and Andavan Kattalai.
He directed the films 'April Maadhathil,' 'Pudhukottaiyilirundhu Saravanan' with Dhanush in 2004, 'Mercury Pookkal' in 2006, and 'Kizhakku Kadalkarai Salai', his last directorial release in 2006.
Three of SS Stanley's four films as a director included actor Srikanth. Dhanush appeared in another film, 'Pudhukottaiyilirundhu Saravanan'. He was also an actor in Tamil films, beginning his career with the 2007 film 'Periyar.'
He was last seen in 'Maharaja', which starred Vijay Sethupathi and got warm welcome in 2024.

Stanley was born on December 14, 1967 in Munnar, Kerala, but grew up largely in Chennai. He graduated from Coimbatore Government Arts College with a degree in Botany.
Stanley approached famed filmmakers Mahendran and Sasi, with whom he had formerly worked as an assistant.
He studied the craft for 12 years before making his directorial debut with the romance story 'April Maadhathil' in 2002.
His family said that the cremation will be held on Tuesday evening at the electric crematorium in Valasaravakkam, Chennai, near his home.
Friends, relatives, and members of the film community are paying their final respects to SS Stanley's mortal remains at his home.
