Yash Chopra’s timeless romantic epic Veer-Zaara has once again proven its lasting appeal. The film, which originally released in 2004 and starred Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark at the global box office following its recent re-release on September 13. The milestone reinforces the film's enduring charm even two decades later.
Upon its re-release, Veer-Zaara added Rs 1.80 crore to its total box office earnings. This includes Rs 1.57 crore from its domestic run and Rs 0.23 crore from international markets. Prior to this, during a brief re-release in February this year, the film earned Rs 30 lakh. When combined with the September re-release figures, Veer-Zaara managed to surpass Rs 100 crore at the worldwide box office.
The film originally grossed Rs 61 crore in India and Rs 37 crore overseas during its initial release, bringing its total to Rs 98 crore. Over the years, the movie accumulated an additional Rs 2.50 crore, taking it close to the Rs 100 crore mark. With its re-release earnings, Veer-Zaara now stands at a total of Rs 102.60 crore worldwide, firmly cementing its place among Bollywood’s all-time box office hits.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh provided insight into the re-release performance, stating that the film earned Rs 20 lakh on its opening day (September 13), followed by Rs 32 lakh on Saturday, Rs 38 lakh on Sunday, Rs 20 lakh on Monday, and smaller but consistent numbers throughout the week. The total for its domestic re-release came to Rs 1.57 crore, with an additional Rs 23 lakh from overseas markets.

Directed by the legendary Yash Chopra and produced by Yash Raj Films, Veer-Zaara was his third collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan, following Darr (1991) and Dil To Pagal Hai (1997). The film's story revolves around the emotional journey of an Indian Air Force officer, Veer Pratap Singh (played by Shah Rukh Khan), and a Pakistani woman, Zaara Hayaat Khan (Preity Zinta). Zaara visits India to fulfill her late grandmother's dying wish and crosses paths with Veer, leading to a cross-border romance. However, their love faces significant challenges when Veer is falsely imprisoned in Pakistan on espionage charges. Years later, a determined Pakistani lawyer, Saamiya Siddiqui (Rani Mukerji), fights to reunite the star-crossed lovers.
