Vaani Kapoor, who played the female lead in YRF’s 2019 action blockbuster War alongside Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, recently addressed her absence from the much-anticipated sequel.
Fans may have wanted to see her with Tiger and Hrithik again, but Vaani has accepted the news and claims she is not upset about missing the follow-up.
The actress thanked everyone for being a part of the original movie while speaking at a promotional event for her upcoming web series Mandala Murders. As reported by Hindustan Times, Vaani shared, “I feel incredibly grateful to have been part of War. It was a huge opportunity, and I’ll always cherish it.”
In a candid and humorous moment, Vaani acknowledged the fate of her character and Tiger’s in the first installment. “Me, Sid (director Sidharth Anand), and Tiger are all not there in the sequel. Tiger and I both passed away in War. So I said, if Tiger comes back, I’m coming back too, my friend!” she quipped.
War, which was directed by Siddharth Anand, made over Rs 475 crore worldwide and was a huge box office success. Vaani added charm to the espionage thriller, which was praised for its stylish action, compelling plot, and the dynamic duo of Hrithik and Tiger.
The upcoming sequel, helmed by Ayan Mukerji, sees Hrithik Roshan return as Agent Kabir, this time facing off against a formidable new antagonist—Agent Vikram, played by Jr. NTR.
Kiara Advani plays the female lead in the cast. The movie will be released in theatres on August 14 and is a part of YRF's expanding spy universe.
